For The Resourceful |
It's time to find the deals. While you're looking for them for your own household, consider picking up an extra one to give away.

Loss Leaders - All stores have loss leaders - basically it's an item they almost give away to get customers into the store so that they may purchase other items while they're there. For example, I always shop at back to school time and pick up things like notebooks, crayons, pens & pencils and glue for next to nothing to give to less fortunate children. Taking advantage of these special deals in an inexpensive way of giving that will make a big difference. Free Food by Couponing - All of you who are aware of the magic of couponing already know what I'm about to say. It is possible to get food items and toiletries for free by using coupons. Yes free. Now if you're lucky enough to live in an area that offers double or triple coupons, you can really go to town. But even if you don't, you can still do well by matching up the coupons you have with the current weekly sales prices. Even if the store has sold out of incredibly cheap loss leader items, always, always, always ask for a raincheck. That way, you may still have the chance to get the item free (or for next to nothing) after the fact. And anything that you may not be able to use yourself or have an abundance of should certainly be donated to a food pantry, shelter, etc. For people who don't think they could ever donate to a charitable cause because money is tight, here is your perfect opportunity. It only takes a little time and effort, but it is well worth it. Clearance Sales – Scope out the special clearance areas of every store you shop in, and consider picking up items you might not be able to use, but someone else can. It only takes a few minutes and many times, I’ve gotten products for pennies on the dollar. This goes for food, clothing & shoes, toys, stationary items… |
